OUR STORY
Urban Garden Project was founded by avid seed collector and garden educator, Charley Fisher. Her passion for finding rare, collectable heirloom seeds led her to create a seed share project with fellow collectors and small-scale seed farmers.
During the pandemic, her seed collective donated thousands of packets of seeds and a vast array of gardening supplies to those turning to gardening for the first time. At a time when her community was unsure of the future, they found refuge in their growing gardens with Urban Garden Project guiding them every step of the way.
Now, Urban Garden Plants is a full scale heirloom nursery that offers rare seasonal heirloom plant varieties. Our mission is to promote biodiversity and be a resource of the most unique seedlings in our region. You may find our plants at farmer's markets and fairs all throughout the Metro Houston area.
True to their roots, Urban Garden Plants offers gardening classes, workshops, and lectures on a host of topics including patio and container gardening, heirloom seeds, seed saving, edible gardens, urban farming, companion gardening, and community garden management. We always welcome an invitation to speak at your garden club meeting or scout activity.
With your help, we will continue our mission to make gardening accessible. We are committed to spreading the love of gardening to our community and beyond.
